Technology is always made up of strong and weak or fragile and powerful, or hard and soft or fast and slow. Technology is what’s at the interface place, the place of transformation, the creative destructive place, the place of rupture. It’s an easy target to rail against because of that. However it is the place of new meaning-making to bring us forward in our evolution.
Navigating the interface well, is what I call the great wilderness nature dance challenge.
When you invent the ship, you also invent the shipwreck; when you invent the plane you also invent the plane crash; and when you invent electricity, you invent electrocution…Every technology carries its own negativity, which is invented at the same time as technical progress. Paul Virilio
